Sheffield came within a whisker of conducting a successful raid over the border into Derbyshire, as local players produced some strong performances at the Nottinghamshire CBA Swiss one-day events in Spondon.

Barrie Partridge, with on-line partner Linda Macfarlane, were pipped into 2nd place by a single VP in Saturday's Swiss Pairs. And thwarted by a similar margin on the Sunday; Julie Grant, Ian Grant, Morag Laycock & Pat Powell came 2nd= in the Swiss Teams. Congratulations (or possibly commiserations at missing out) to all.
