Mixed success in the NBL

Tuesday, 19 July 2016 by Bazil Caygill

The first round of the Northern Bridge League brought mixed success for Sheffield's players.

In the A-division, Yorkshire's teams finished second and third, behind a strong Manchester team. Yorkshire 1 contained two Sheffield pairs - Richard Pike/Dave Robinson and Graham Jepson/David Musson - while Yorkshire 2 were spearheaded by the Sheffield pair of Keith Cornish/David Waxman. All Sheffield pairs scored strongly in the cross-IMPing, out-scoring all their non-Sheffield team-mates.

The results from lower divisions are, alas, less to write home about:

  • Raphael Grossman / Bazil Caygill were in Yorkshire's B-division team that finished a disappointing 7th.
  • The all-Sheffield C-division team of  David Narcross/Terry Jacobs, Bill Barraclough/Dave Duckworth, Lesley Blanchard/Stuart Fletcher, Wendy Watson/John Squires finished 5th.
