Peter Stubbs

Wednesday, 20 April 2022 by Barrie Partridge

We have received the sad news that Peter Stubbs has passed away after a long battle with cancer. The cancer was associated with exposure to asbestos when working on a construction site some decades ago.

Peter was for many years the Secretary for the Sheffield and District Contract Bridge Association, and for LOG, which in 2000 replaced the S&DCBA, retiring only very recently. For many seasons, Peter captained a team in the Open League with the name "Acolholics Anonymous". Peter also captained one of the Sheffeld teams in the Yorkshire League.

Away from bridge, Peter was the author of ‘Joining the Seas’ - a book about the Coast to Coast walk.
This is what Amazon said about him:

"A retired Civil Engineer and Transport Planner, Peter Stubbs has always enjoyed the outdoor life and has completed several long distance walks over the last 30 years. He walks regularly with a number of local groups and many years he has organised night hikes in the Peak District around his native Sheffield. He considers himself extremely fortunate to live in an area blessed with so much stunning and easily accessible scenery."

Our condolences to Peter's family. Arrangements will be added here when known.
