Lady Milne Trials

Monday, 21 January 2019 by Barrie Partridge

Sandy Davies and Ilkley's Carole Kelly have qualified from the first weekend of trials to the second (and final) weekend of trials.

For the first weekend, 16 pairs played 120 boards in 15 matches of 8 boards each. The leading six would qualify to join another two pairs exempted from the first weekend to make 8 pairs to slog it out on the second weekend.

At the end of the first weekend, Sandy and Carole came 7th, but just 0.87 IMPs behind the pair in sixth place, thus apparently failing to qualify by less than 1 IMP over 120 boards. Word has now reached SBC Towers that a higher placed pair has dropped out, as Sandy and Carole have been informed that they have now qualified.

Sandy and Carole have in the past qualified to play for England in the Lady Milne, which is the Home International against Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland, so fingers are crossed that they can qualify again this year.
