It is with great sadness that we announce that Pat Littlewood died peacefully on Friday, 12th February at St. Lukes Hospice with her family by her side. Pat is probably the current longest serving member of the Sheffield Bridge Club, joining in the late 1950’s! She was in her 81st year, having enjoyed a party to celebrate her 80th birthday last year.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marjorie Mound on Saturday 6th February at Chesterfield General Hospital. Marjorie was an avid bridge player and played regularly at the Sheffield Bridge Club on Friday evenings. She was a lovely lady, always welcoming, cheerful and with a glint of mischief in her eye.
Stan Haywood, her long-time friend and bridge partner, writes
Marjorie came from a farming family in Bridlington and told tales of her siblings and childhood there. Following marriage to John she lived, at least for some time, in South Wales where she was involved in the local golf club and played Bridge there. Later she moved to Chesterfield to be near her daughter and help with the raising of four grandchildren, all of whom have done particularly well, and of whom she was proud. I've known her for about 25 years, playing regularly on Friday evenings for about 20 of those years, initially at Chesterfield BC. She was a long-time member of Ringwood BC where she play three time a week and where she served on the committee until her death. In her latter years, particularly as a widow, Bridge became her life and she would seek any excuse to to be out and about for a game. From time-to-time that enthusiasm gained its just rewards.
On a personal note she was good fun and a good and generous partner at the table. However the "good" can only be said to go so far as there was too much mischievousness in her soul to claim to be "all good".
