PENULTIMATE MATCHES
Division 1
Sheffield A had what their captain described as "a modest win" over Ilkley 12-8, to remain in 2nd place still with a chance of retaining their title....if theu beat the unbeaten table toppers York by 19-1, or better, in the last match!
Sheffield B had a decisive 16-4 victory over Thirsk which ensures Sheffield BC will again be the only club with 2 teams in division once again next season. Not only have they secured their safety, with a match to spare, but also have a chance of finishing 3rd!
Division 5
Sheffield C beat York E 20-0 to ensure their third consecutive promotion in 3 years and a high probability of their second successive title!
Division 7
Sheffield D got straight back to winning ways with a thumping 20-0 victory over Brighouse B to move into 2nd place. They also mirror the A team in playing the top of the table team in their last match and knowing a 19-1, or better, win will take the title!
Sheffield E remain an enigma; after beating table topping Sheffield D 20-0 last time losing to lowly Leeds E 9-11. The E team have now lost 3 won 3...but the fact that all three won were by 20-0 means they remain 3rd!
The final round of matches is on 29th March and all players should be aware that the Sheffield Half Marathon takes place that day and there will be severe traffic disruption in Sheffield from early morning which may affect travel plans even if you are playing away.
Well done to all our teams & special thanks to Barrie for being there when thhings go awry!
