It is with great sadness we report the death of Mary Whyms in hospital yesterday (18 June) after a short illness.

 

Mary had been a member of the club for over 30 years and was a very good player who represented the club in the higher divisions of the Yorkshire league for many years.

 

Three days earlier, Mary had a fall and fractured her hip and was taken to the Northern General Hospital, but she had also developed a lung infection on top of her existing pulmonary fibrosis (scarred lung) condition, and it was this that became critical and fatal.

 

There will not be a funeral as, like Rob, Mary had donated her body for science.
