Private Terry Jacobs - Walk to Victory

Monday, 11 May 2020 by Bazil Caygill

As a fellow serviceman I’ve been inspired by Captain Tom Moore to attempt to raise some much needed funds for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital in these difficult times.

Sheffield Children’s is experiencing the reality of the Coronavirus crisis daily and are feeling the additional and excessive strain on services. They need our support now more than ever. Over 1,500 frontline staff at Sheffield Children’s are working day and night to care for some of those most at risk during this crisis. The doctors and nurses treat every condition imaginable, battling the most complex illnesses to save lives. They do this every day. They are also now carrying out all emergency children’s surgery that would have taken place at surrounding hospitals across Yorkshire and beyond.

I, Private TC Jacobs RASC, National Service 1960-62 (served 5INF BDE GRP HQ, Iserlone, Germany) will be attempting to walk five kilometres over five weeks. At 80 years old, and a blue badge holder, I struggle to walk any distance but for this worthy cause me and my zimmer will walk as far as my legs will take me – spurred on by your generous donations. Any amount you could donate to this worthy charity will make a difference and I appreciate your support. Over and out!!
